Overview
This award recognizes an outstanding volunteer who has demonstrated exceptional leadership in engaging and inspiring others to increase citizen participation in active living, recreation, and parks. The recipient is a champion for collaboration, dedicating their time, working with stakeholders, organizations, and community members to create meaningful opportunities that encourage more people to be active more often. Eligibility
- The nominee must be an Alberta resident.
- The nominee must have demonstrated leadership in fostering community engagement in active living, recreation and parks through volunteer efforts .
- Contributions must have made an impact on enhancing active living, recreation and parks in the community.
- The nominee must have dedicated volunteer time to initiatives that support active living, recreation, or parks.
Evaluation Criteria
Evaluators will consider:
- Volunteer Leadership & Vision: How the nominee has inspired and motivated others to take action in active living, recreation, and parks through volunteer efforts.
- Engagement & Collaboration: Their ability to bring together citizens, stakeholders, or organizations to create positive change as a volunteer.
- Impact & Sustainability: The effectiveness and longevity of their volunteer contributions in enhancing active living, recreation, and parks.
- Innovation & Advocacy: How the nominee has introduced new ideas, solutions, or advocacy efforts to enhance active living in the community through their volunteer work.
Examples of Contributions
- Leading community initiatives and programs that encourage active living, recreation, and park engagement.
- Volunteering in advocacy efforts to improve policies or projects that enhance access to parks, trails, and recreational spaces.
- Engaging diverse populations to ensure equitable access to active living opportunities.
- Building partnerships between organizations, businesses, and government through volunteer efforts to strengthen community wellness.
