ARPA Volunteer Interest Form

ARPA Event & Program Committees

Annual Conference Planning Committees
This work would assist with the planning of the ARPA Annual Conference & Energize Workshop historically taking place in October. Roles would include overall organizing oversight, education program planning, social and guest experience and facility planning support. There will be several sub-committees that will undertake the planning work over the year leading up to the event.

ARPA 75th Anniversary Committee
ARPA’s 75th Anniversary will be taking place in 2026 and the Board of Directors and staff are gearing up to celebrate 75 incredible years of building vibrant, healthy communities across Alberta—and we need YOU to help make this milestone unforgettable! The Committee will lead the planning of celebrations, events, alumni connections, history collection and storytelling.

Awards and Scholarships Committee
This Committee looks after the adjudication of ARPA's own awards and scholarships and helps to market and secure applications for all of the awards within our sector. This Committee also helps to host the annual awards events as well as oversees the volunteer recognition program.

Professional Development & Education Committee
ARPA's Education Committee is poised to have a busy year as it looks to further develop ARPA's professional development offerings as well as looks to undertake a refresh of the Canadian Parks and Recreation Association's (CPRA) Professional Development Certificate program.

Parks & Open Space Network
This group typically meets quarterly to discuss topics of shared interest in municipal parks. This group is more of a network that includes roundtable sharing but does from time to time take on projects and provide counsel to the ARPA Board of Directors.

Parks Forum Advisory Committee
This work would assist with the planning of the biennial Park Forum. Roles would include overall organizing oversight, education program planning, social and guest experience and facility planning support.

Advocacy Committee
The ARPA Board of Directors is looking to take it's advocacy role more seriously and as such is looking to bring back a formal Advocacy Committee that can help inform the Board and take on work related to Association and sector advocacy. This group will meet for the most part over Zoom approximately every two months.
