Corporate Community Leader Award

Overview

This award recognizes a business, corporate entity, or individual demonstrating outstanding leadership in supporting active, healthy communities through active living, recreation and parks. The recipient has shown a tangible commitment to corporate social responsibility by investing in initiatives, partnerships, or strategies that promote active living and enhance community well-being.

Eligibility

  • Open to businesses, corporate entities, or individuals working in a for profit organization in Alberta.
  • Municipalities, not for profit organizations, and volunteer committees/groups are not eligible.
  • The nominee must have demonstrated a sustained commitment to supporting active living, recreation and parks as a catalyst for healthier, more active communities.
  • Contributions must be tangible and have had a positive impact on community development.

Evaluation Criteria

Evaluators will consider:

  • Corporate Social Responsibility: The extent to which the nominee has integrated active community leadership into their business values and operations.
  • Investment in Recreation & Parks: How the nominee has financially or operationally supported active living, recreation and parks initiatives.
  • Community Engagement & Partnerships: How they have collaborated with local organizations, governments, or community groups to support active living, recreation and parks as a catalyst for healthier, more active communities.
  • Impact & Sustainability: The lasting solutions to enhancing active living, recreation and parks in the community by the nominee.

Examples of Contributions

  • Implementing employee wellness programs that extend to the broader community.
  • Partnering with local organizations to promote accessible and inclusive opportunities in active living, recreation and parks.
  • Providing expertise, resources, or infrastructure to enhance public access to active living spaces.
  • Advocating for policies or initiatives that support active and healthy communities.
  • Sponsoring or funding community recreation programs, facilities, or events.
